RescuEAN was keen to increase diver’s general awareness of the Pod’s existence and beneficial use with conscious, semi-conscious and unconscious patients.
To help achieve this awareness, RescuEAN offered the first 100 schools worldwide the option of up to three RescuEAN Kits at a massive saving over the UK RRP.
The pod is now being used in many areas around the world, especially in those that EMS and O2 provision are poor - so it is hoped that a greater general awareness will, in the event of an emergency, give a diver the knowledge and ability to use an available pod - should an O2 kit be unavailable or exhausted.
Ever remembering the wording in the various certifying association’s training manual’s: (i.e. in the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider manual, Pg 15)
“If you run out of oxygen, but have enriched air nitrox available, use a scuba regulator to provide it to a responsive injured diver”
Now, with the pod’s introduction, it is possible to offer nitrox to an unresponsive patient too, increasing the possibility of patient recovery over basic M2M.
Apart from using as a back up to their O2 kit, many more dive schools are now incorporating the pod into their EFR, O2 and Rescue courses, allowing their students a chance to use and test the pod in training and scenarios.
There is a DVD available, showing a real time scenario and the pod’s set up at the school’s club night and training. (for those of you that keep asking - filmed at Leybourne Lakes, Kent, UK!)
